The Department of Trade and Industry reaffirmed its commitment to empower micro, small and medium enterprises through innovation, policy reform and digital transformation at the VIA Vendor Fair 2025 on May 8 at SMX Aura.
The event, organized by CRIF Philippines, carried the theme “VIA the Right Path: Accelerating Business Growth through Compliance and Sustainable Practices.”
It emphasized the need to streamline processes and promote responsible practices for aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs.
“Our SMEs are not just the backbone of our economy—they are its pulse, its potential,” said DTI Regional Operations Group Supervising Head, Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona.
The DTI promoted key reforms under Republic Act 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.
The law aims to simplify government transactions, reduce delays and improve transparency in business registration.
DTI has implemented tools such as the Business Name Registration System Portal, the Startup Business One-Stop Shop and Enterprise Digital Upgrading to modernize enterprise support.
The agency also highlighted programs under Republic Act 11293, the Philippine Innovation Act, and Republic Act 11337, the Innovative Startup Act.
These laws provide funding, incentives and ecosystem support for startups and regional innovators.
DTI’s SMART Link Program connects MSMEs with local startups to improve digital efficiency and competitiveness.
The department noted progress from its RAPID Growth Project, which has supported more than 69,000 smallholder farmers and 718 MSMEs across the country.
The program focuses on inclusive growth and rural enterprise development.
Aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s “Bagong Pilipinas” industrial strategy, DTI is advancing the Tatak Pinoy Strategy Program to boost Filipino products globally.
The program’s five pillars—human resources, infrastructure, technology and innovation, investments and sound financial management—aim to strengthen digital transformation and promote advanced manufacturing.
“DTI stands with you,” said Usec. Lantayona.
“We are your partner in growth, your advocate for innovation and your ally in building a future where no SME is left behind.”
The event drew hundreds of participants from various sectors.
The VIA Vendor Fair 2025 underscored that compliance, innovation and sustainability are vital to economic recovery and long-term national growth.
