The Department of Trade and Industry Region 6 (DTI R6) is leading efforts to promote Geographical Indication (GI)-certified Guimaras mangoes and boost local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through its active support of the Manggahan Festival 2025.
The week-long festival opened on May 16 at the Guimaras Provincial Capitol Grounds with vibrant cultural performances and a ceremonial mango picking event celebrating the island’s signature fruit.
DTI Region 6 Director Rachel N. Nufable joined the festivities, underscoring the agency’s commitment to strengthening the mango industry and promoting the region’s agri-based economy.
“We are excited and immensely happy about this endeavor in marketing and promoting the sweetest mangoes with a Geographical Indication (GI), the Guimaras Mangoes,” Nufable said during the event.
She emphasized the importance of partnerships in the industry’s growth, adding, “The strong collaboration with logistics companies, with the assistance of DTI’s Supply Chain and Logistics Group, and all stakeholders in mango production, marks a significant leap in the development of the industry.”
The opening also featured the Regional Agri-Eco Trade Fair and the fan-favorite Mango Eat-All-You-Can activity, which annually draws thousands of tourists eager to taste the famed mangoes.
DTI Guimaras set up a dedicated booth showcasing processed mango goods, crafts, and eco-friendly products made by MSMEs, alongside a business advisory desk offering on-site consultations for entrepreneurs.
PHLPost and LBC are enabling on-site mango purchases with real-time delivery options, helping bridge logistics gaps for both tourists and remote customers.
Airspeed has pre-ordered 300 kilograms of mangoes for distribution to its clients and partners, signaling increased private sector investment in Guimaras mango distribution.
Meanwhile, FAST Logistics is transporting 2 tons of mangoes from the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Development Cooperative and Wonders Farm to IFEX Philippines 2025, happening May 22-25 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Guimaras mangoes will headline the country’s premier international food exhibition, further spotlighting the fruit’s export potential and quality certification.
In Metro Manila, DTI and PHLPost launched a home delivery campaign from May 16 to 25, allowing NCR-based customers to enjoy GI-certified Guimaras mangoes ordered directly from the island.
“This initiative connects local farmers to urban markets and enhances our value chain from farm to fork,” said Nufable, noting that efforts like this demonstrate the government’s broader push to empower rural industries.
