DTI-6 evaluates regional BAGWIS nominees

Members of the Regional Bagwis Committee in one of the provincial assessments of the Bagwis Award nominees held on September 2022
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bagwis Committee (RBC) convened this September for the annual assessment of bronze, silver and gold Bagwis Awared nominees throughout the region.
The DTI-Bagwis Program gives due recognition to establishments that uphold the rights of consumers while practicing responsible business where consumers get the best value for their hard-earned money.
The award is divided into three categories: bronze, silver and gold.
For the bronze seal, businesses must follow Fair Trade Laws (FTLs) such as the Consumer Act, Price Act, Price Tag Law and install Consumer Welfare Desks.
On the other hand, the silver seal requires additional criteria to be met, such as compliance with social responsibilities like sound purchasing policy and participation in national or local government programs like price stabilization and livelihood programs.
To receive the gold seal, establishments must align their processes with ISO 9001:2015.
A total of 59 applicants across Region 6- 15 bronze nominees, 25 silver nominees, and 19 gold nominees are subject for evaluation.
The RBC is chaired by DTI Regional Director Rebecca Rascon, and the members are composed of the Regional Consumer Protection Division Head, and representatives from the business sector, recognized consumer organizations, and the concerned local government units.
The regional evaluation will end after the RBC visits all the provinces in Region 6.
The 2022 awardees are expected to receive the awards during the Consumer Welfare Month in October.
Rascon encourages more establishments to strictly adhere to consumer laws and improve their customer service in order to be eligible for the Bagwis Awards.
