The Department of Social Welfare and Development will distribute PHP 10,000 in cash assistance to each family affected by the recent massive flooding in Capiz within the next 48 to 72 hours.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said in an interview on October 21 that all flood-affected families will receive the financial aid.
He added that the agency is only waiting for the final list of beneficiaries from concerned local government units before the payouts can begin.
Gatchalian assured the public that the government has enough funds to provide financial support to every family impacted by the calamity.
He also emphasized that the DSWD will continue to provide assistance until Capiz fully recovers from the flood damage.
Gatchalian visited Capiz to personally lead the distribution of food packs to affected residents.
Data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office showed that 35,557 families across the province were affected by the flooding on October 20.
The flooding covered 112 barangays in 12 towns, with water levels subsiding in 28 barangays, while 82 remain underwater.
A total of 10,583 families were evacuated, with 5,506 having returned home and 5,077 still staying in evacuation centers.
