BACOLOD CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region distributed PHP 1,088,700,495 in financial assistance to 185,315 households affected by Typhoon Tino in 14 local government units in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.
As of March 18, the agency, through its Emergency Cash Transfer program, released the biggest share to Himamaylan City at PHP 161.8 million.
As of March 18, the agency under its Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program has released the largest share to Himamaylan City with PHP161.8 million, followed by Hinigaran with PHP142.7 million, Bago City with PHP127.3 million, and Binalbagan with PHP123.8 million, all in Negros Occidental.
Other allocations include PHP106 million for La Castellana, PHP96.9 million for Isabela, PHP92 million for La Carlota City, PHP79 million for Moises Padilla, PHP47 million for Pontevedra, PHP34.6 million for Bacolod City, PHP26.9 million for Pulupandan, PHP21.5 million for San Enrique, and PHP10 million for Valladolid.
Canlaon City in Negros Oriental also received PHP18 million.
The agency said distribution has been completed in Hinigaran and La Castellana.
Payouts in the other areas are ongoing.
The DSWD-NIR said all qualified beneficiaries will receive assistance to help them recover from the devastation caused by the typhoon last year.
Under the Emergency Cash Transfer program, families receive PHP 10,325 for totally destroyed houses and PHP 5,369 for partially damaged homes.
Typhoon Tino, internationally known as Kalmaegi, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Nov. 2, 2025, before intensifying and affecting several parts of the country.
The storm severely battered Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental, displacing thousands of residents.
The cash aid forms part of the government’s recovery response for families whose homes were damaged by the typhoon.
