ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Around 3,867 tricycle drivers and operators received PHP 5,000 each in cash relief assistance Wednesday, April 8, distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.
Kathernine Joy M. Lamprea, DSWD-6 assistant regional director for operations, led the distribution.
She said only legitimate operators and drivers of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs) with valid franchises are qualified for the assistance.
Lamprea said Roxas City was prioritized due to the high number of passenger tricycles operating in the city, adding that the rollout will extend to other towns in Capiz province within the next few days.
The DSWD is distributing PHP 5,000 in cash relief to qualified tricycle drivers nationwide starting in March and April 2026 to help offset rising fuel costs under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
Beneficiaries are required to be on a validated LGU list and must personally claim the assistance.
