BACOLOD City – A heated argument triggered a father to stab his son to death inside their house at Sitio Troso, Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on New Year’s Day, Jan 1, 2022.
Killed was Bienvenido Paz Jr., 39.
Police Staff Sergeant Epifanio Mercado Jr., investigator of San Carlos City Police Station, said the suspect identified as Bienvenido Sr., 67, and the victim met at their house after coming from separate drinking sessions.
Bienvenido Jr. and Bienvenido Sr. then allegedly figured in an argument when the former reprimanded his father about their boat, Mercado said.
A commotion followed as they figured in a fistfight.
Mercado said Bienvenido Jr. allegedly hit Bienvenido Sr. with bamboo sticks during the commotion. But the suspect reportedly stabbed his son in the chest with a double blade knife.
Bienvenido Jr. was taken to a hospital, where he later passed away.
Mercado said Bienvenido Sr. was taken to the police station by barangay watchmen for questioning. But, after verifying his link to the incident, the suspect was then placed in police custody.
“Dugay na sila abi na ga away pirmi, that time nakainom pa pag lalisay nila, nagbato na ang bata niya,” Mercado said.
The suspect was charged for parricide last Monday.
