A 34-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly threatened his wife with a firearm and a bolo during a fight inside their house at Barangay Nasirum, Mina, Iloilo afternoon of Oct 8, 2022.
Police said Warren Francisco was drunk when the incident happened.
Lieutenant Rogie Panela, Mina police chief, said they received a phone call asking for police assistance around 4 p.m. on Saturday about a man who was allegedly armed with a handgun.
Panela and several of his personnel proceeded to the area and were informed by Francisco’s father-in-law that the suspect was armed.
The suspect’s wife managed to escape and sought refuge in a neighbor’s house,
When Francisco saw policemen, he immediately yielded and directed them to the area where he kept it.
The suspect hid his caliber .38 revolver loaded with two pieces of ammunition in a piece of luggage inside their room.
Panela said they also saw marks on several parts of the couple’s house which indicated that he could have made them with a bolo.
The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004).
