Drug suspect killed in Iloilo buy-bust

One of two suspects in a police anti-narcotics operation was killed after allegedly putting up a fight with operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6.

The incident occurred around 4:18 p.m. on July 1 at Barrio 7, Barangay Badiangan, Mina, Iloilo.

The fatality was identified as Alnie Talamor, 41, a resident of Barangay Janipa-an Central, Cabatuan, Iloilo.

Talamor’s companion, 48-year-old Jeory Leyso of Barangay Badiangan, Mina, was physically unscathed.

Both suspects were considered high-value individuals, with Talamor as the main target of the operation.

The operation initially proceeded smoothly, with the suspects agreeing to sell a sachet of suspected shabu for P50,000.

After the transaction was completed, Talamor allegedly resisted arrest and drew a firearm, resulting in an encounter with RPDEU-6 operatives.

Talamor was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Recovered during the operation were a caliber .45 pistol, two large sachets, nine medium sachets, and 15 small sachets of suspected shabu, a red Mazda pick-up truck (license plate XRS 623) registered in the name of Wilbert S. Razalan of Pasig City, Manila, a motorcycle, and other non-drug items.

The seized drugs weighed around 730 grams with a standard drug price of P4,964,000.
