Drug suspect caught in Cuartero buy-bust operation

A suspected drug user classified as a street-level individual (SLI) was arrested late Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 3, in Barangay Angub, Cuartero, Capiz.
The suspect, identified as John Barana, 37, of Sitio Tingas, Barangay Balucuan, Dao, Capiz, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Cuartero Municipal Police Station.
Authorities recovered one sachet of suspected shabu and PHP 1,600 in marked money used during the operation.
During the search, police also found seven additional sachets of suspected shabu stored in a black pouch, with an estimated value of PHP 24,000, along with a Yamaha i125 motorcycle.
The suspect admitted to using illegal drugs, according to police.
He is currently under the custody of the Cuartero Police Station and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
