BACOLOD City – A drug surrenderer was gunned down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle at Barangay 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police identified the victim as Leo Porras, 30, of Barangay Hilamonan.
Lieutenant Jomel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victim was overseeing the hauling of stocks in front of his boutique store when the perpetrators arrived and shot him.
Salarda said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
Police recovered from the scene five fired cartridges of .45 caliber ammunition.
Salarda said they already have persons of interest behind the killing, but they could not divulge more details as investigation is ongoing.
He also said they are exploring some angles behind the attack.
Although he noted that the victim surrendered to the authorities in 2016, he could not confirm if the incident can be considered drug-related.
