‘Drug personality’ shot dead

BACOLOD City – A suspected drug personality was shot dead at Purok Cereza North, Barangay 3 here last Friday.

Slain was Chris John Geva, 23, of the said village.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 2, said Geva and some companions went to the house of the suspect identified as 46-year-old Aladino Magbanua past 10 p.m.

Gabana said that Geva’s group allegedly destroyed the barricade in front of the suspect’s house and attacked his house with an “Indian target.”

To prevent injuries to his family, Magbanua allegedly shot Geva in the back during their altercation and fled, the station commander added.

Geva was declared dead at the hospital while the suspect remains at large.

Gabana said grudges between the two probably triggered the incident.

Police records indicated that Geva was linked to robberies in the area, and a street level target in the PNP’s anti-drug campaign. A policeman also filed a direct assault case against him.

Gabana said Magbanua’s family is convincing him to surrender.
