Drug personality shot dead

BACOLOD City – A man who was previously jailed for illegal drugs was gunned down by six unidentified men at Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City Tuesday night.
Police identified the fatality as Jomar Parofil, 37.
Lieutenant Rondyl Tapang, head of Police Station 4, said Parofil had just alighted from a vehicle and was walking in an alley around 7 p.m. when the assailants shot him then fled on board motorcycles.
Parofil was rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival due to five gunshot wounds on the head and back.
Tapang said they are looking into the illegal drug trade as a possible angle in the killing.
He also said that Parofil was previously arrested for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs here in 2015. But he was released from jail in 2017 after the case was dismissed in court.
“We are not sure if Parofil was still engaging in the illegal drug trade, but according to the barangay officials, he is on the recent drugs watch list,” Tapang said.
