BACOLOD City – An alleged street level target was wounded after he was shot by two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle at Sitio San Juan, Barangay Camugao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the victim as Jerry John Yap, 33, of the said village.
Lieutenant Joemel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victim was outside their house talking to his wife and his friend when the perpetrators arrived.
Salarda said the assailants then shot the victim and fled.
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds and was brought to a hospital. His wife and friend were unharmed.
Police recovered from the scene two fired cartridges and a fired bullet of .45 caliber.
Salarda said the victim was released from jail in January this year after he was arrested in Cauayan last year for a drug offense.
Salarda said they have yet to establish the motive, though they do not discount the possibility that it could be drug-related.
