BACOLOD City – An alleged drug peddler was killed in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police identified the fatality as John Ross Repique, 39, of the said village, who is also the target subject of the operation.
The operation led by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU)-6, and Kabankalan City Police Station, also resulted in the recovery of P700,000 worth of suspected shabu.
A report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), said that the shootout occurred when Repique allegedly fired his gun at the police, prompting the latter to retaliate.
Repique was brought to Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police recovered from the scene a .38-caliber revolver, five live ammunition and a fired cartridge from said firearm, and a cartridge of .9mm caliber ammunition.
Authorities also recovered during the operation a bag, 20 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 102.94 grams, an improvised tooter, P34,000 boodle money, P200 cash, and P1,100 marked money.
