BACOLOD City – An alleged drug offender who was shot at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 here on Dec. 7 passed away three days later at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here.
Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, head of Police Station 2, said that Renante Gellang, 44, of Barangay Sum-ag here, expired at the hospital around 1:56 a.m. on Dec. 10.
Gellang was found with gunshot wounds in the head, back, and shoulder in an alley in Barangay 2.
Pastrana said they already have a lead on the suspect.
Police are looking into drug-related as a motive in the incident, considering that Gellang allegedly consumes the illegal drugs and replaces them with an alum powder (tawas) when he sells it to his customer.
“Daw ga runner na siya abi, tapos ang ipabaligya sa iya, gna islan niya tawas kay ginagamit niya ang droga,” Pastrana said.
Pastrana said that Gellang was previously jailed for a drug offense and was released in 2021 through plea bargaining. “In and out na siya sa jail,” he added.
