BACOLOD City – A 52-year-old driver is facing charges for attempted rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act for allegedly trying to molest a 16-year-old girl in Toboso, Negros Occidental over the weekend.
Police withheld the name of the suspect and the minor-victim.
Police Captain Magan, town police chief, said the victim and the suspect met in a funeral wake.
“Siguro nag take advantage ang laki sa iya kay basi na kursunada siya,” he added.
Magan said they could not establish yet how they ended up alone together, as the victim is still in trauma.
“Indi pa siya ma storya gid and under counseling siya,” he added.
Magan said the victim was able to send a chat message to her sibling, prompting her family to locate her with the suspect.
The suspect is detained at Toboso Municipal Police Station.
