Different year, same result, still gold.
On Dec. 14, 2025, Agatha Wong continued her dominant display in the Southeast Asian Games after capturing another gold medal in the wushu event at the Ratthaprasasanphakdi Building Government Complex in Bangkok, Thailand.
With another triumphant campaign in the biennial sporting event, Wong stood in the middle of the podium for the fifth straight edition of the SEA Games, clinching her sixth overall gold since 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Wong reigned supreme in the women’s taijiquan-taijijian, earning a total of 19.556 points to edge Brunei Darussalam’s Basma Lachkar and Sydney Sy Xuan Chin of Malaysia.
It was a neck-and-neck battle in the taijijian as Wong held a slim 0.003-point lead over Lachkar, 9.783 to 9.780, but made it up in the taijiquan to secure the title-sealing win.
The championship stage was a throwback matchup, as the trio had met during the 2023 SEA Games at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Unlike her 2025 finish, where she immediately grabbed an early lead, the last SEA Games edition was a nip-and-tuck affair, as she trailed behind Lachkar and Chin in the taijiquan, scoring only 9.580 points.
However, Wong redeemed herself in the taijijian and put up a performance to remember after tallying 9.683 points.
Her impressive outing in the taijijian event was enough to make up for her third-place finish in the taijiquan and completed a terrific come-from-behind gold medal win.
Despite the complete contrast in her last two SEA Games trips, one thing will always be for sure.
Agatha Wong is still the queen of SEA wushu.
“Sixth Southeast Asian Games gold medal of my career. For God and my country, salamat Pilipinas!” Wong posted on her official Facebook account.
