DPWH worker killed in Dumalag fire

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 43-year-old employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Capiz 2nd Engineering District died after he was trapped inside his burning house Tuesday morning in Poblacion, Dumalag, Capiz. The charred body of Edimart “Ating” Alba was found in the doorway of their comfort room.

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 43-year-old employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) Capiz 2nd Engineering District died after he was trapped inside his burning house Tuesday morning in Poblacion, Dumalag, Capiz.
The charred body of Edimart “Ating” Alba was found in the doorway of their comfort room.
Alba’s son Justin Mark escaped with no injuries.
Alba’s house was one of the three houses that were totally burned, according to Fire Officer l Arvin Ebron of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Dumalag.
The other houses were owned by Tito Fecundo and Alicia Fecundo.
The houses of Wilfredo Diocera and Florita Rubico were partially burned.
Witnesses claimed that the fire erupted around 1:58 am in the dirty kitchen of Alba who had just finished cooking food with the use of firewood.
Alba’s two-storey residence is made of mixed materials.
The conflagration was quelled at around 3:20am.
The BFP estimated that P300,000 worth of properties went up in smoke.
