Travel along Iloilo Radial Road-4, specifically from Sta. Barbara to Leganes and vice versa, is now faster and more convenient thanks to ongoing widening efforts by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
The DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office recently completed the widening of a 5.28-lineal-kilometer stretch of the road.
The project involved constructing an additional one-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement on both sides, costing PHP96.499 million.
District Engineer Mario G. Soriano said the project aims to offer a broader, more efficient alternate route connecting northern and central Iloilo towns, including improved access to Iloilo International Airport.
“This widened road will ease traffic congestion and improve travel conditions for motorists,” Soriano said.

“This is a vital step in ensuring that our infrastructure keeps pace with Iloilo’s rapid progress,” he added.
Soriano said the road section offers travelers from northern Iloilo a shorter route to the airport.
Regional Director Nerie D. Oropel added that the radial road can now accommodate a larger volume of vehicles.
He said it will significantly reduce travel time and vehicle operation and maintenance costs.
This road widening initiative forms part of the DPWH’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure projects that benefit the public. (DPWH)
