Improved access to tourist destinations in Guimaras is now available to both local and foreign visitors following a road upgrade by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
The project enhances accessibility, safety and convenience for residents and tourists alike.
DPWH Guimaras has completed the concreting of the 915-meter Crossing David-Alubihod Road, which includes a 6,258.75-square-meter concrete slope protection and 1,014-lineal-meter steel sheet piles to ensure the structure’s long-term stability.
DPWH Western Visayas Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel said the road improvement strengthens access to key tourist sites and supports the province’s tourism growth.
“The upgraded road connects travelers to popular spots such as Alubihod Cove, Raymen Beach Resort, Andana Resort and Charles’ Floating Cottage,” Oropel said.
“It improves the travel experience by enhancing safety and comfort.”

District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos said the project also includes reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and guardrails to ensure better visibility and motorist safety in low-light conditions.
An esplanade was also constructed in the area to provide a safe and comfortable space for pedestrians and sightseers.
The PHP77.2-million project was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
It is part of the broader effort to improve road connectivity, facilitate smoother travel and promote socio-economic development in Guimaras. (DPWH)
