After Ninoy Aquino Stadium’s conversion into a medical facility, the PhilSports Arena was then transformed into a “We Heal As One” Center to nurse more COVID-19 patients.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shed in time and effort in converting the sports facilities that can be convenient for all COVID-19 patients, nurses, and doctors.
DPWH kept its promise of finishing these converted medical facilities on time, having started the project April 15 and completing it on the 19th.
After four days, the newly converted PhilSports Arena now had 132 beds and two nursing stations to accommodate more patients with COVID-19.
Right after Philippine Sports Commission’s (PSC) chairman, Butch Ramirez, offered a helping hand to the government by voluntarily offering both Ninoy Aquino Stadium and PhilSports Arena as medical facilities, the patient congestion among hospitals started to ease, with four other major infrastructures converted into medical facilities.
The ASEAN Convention Center in Pampanga, New Clark City in Tarlac, PICC, and the World Trade Center were also recently converted to “We Heal As One” centers.
Meanwhile, the Ciudad de Victoria, which houses both the Philippine Arena and the Philippine Sports Stadium, are now underway to serve as extra quarantine facilities.
