BACOLOD City – Department of Public Works and Highways District Engineer Abraham Villareal said Thursday that dredging the river ways here will avert flooding.
Villareal said that this is what the DPWH can do while the Drainage Master Plan’s implementation is pending until next year. The master plan took two years to be completed.
He also said that there are factors that contributed to the flooding in the city following massive rains Friday last week.
Villareal said at least 70 percent of drainage ways in the city are under the care of the national government.
He said both the city and the national drainage ways have to be integrated to have an effective system that would address the flooding problem in the city.
