The Department of Public Works and Highways Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office has completed a two-story multi-purpose building benefiting local officials and residents of Barangay Poblacion in Leganes, Iloilo.
The PHP 4,949,000 building funded under the FY 2025 Regular Infrastructure Program includes a roof deck and necessary amenities to provide a more conducive and spacious venue for public service and community activities.
DPWH 6 Officer-in-Charge Director Jose Al V. Fruto said this building that will house the barangay officials, boosting their morale and enthusiasm towards effective and efficient delivery of quality service to the people.
“This new and spacious building offers a better working environment for the local officials that could help them effectively and efficiently deliver quality service to the people,” Director Fruto noted.
“Working in a conducive and cozy workplace will eventually boost their morale and increase their productivity and efficiency as government workers, hence, better and quality service will be delivered to the people,” Dir. Fruto added.
Director Fruto further said this building may serve as venue for political, social and educational activities of the barangay, as well as for medical missions and health activities that will benefit everyone in the community.
Meanwhile, District Engineer Mario G. Soriano said the structure may be used as a temporary evacuation center to provide safer and more convenient shelter in times of calamities and disasters.
“This new building may be used as temporary center during calamities and emergencies, providing evacuees with a stronger, safer and more comfortable place to shelter during calamities, disasters and other emergency situations,” said DE Soriano.
The project serves as a central hub for local governance and community activities, enabling more efficient delivery of programs and services. (DPWH)
