A three-story, six-classroom building constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office is now benefiting students and teachers at Pavia National High School in Pavia, Iloilo.
The PHP 23.382-million project, funded under the FY 2024 DPWH Infrastructure Program, was built in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd).
The facility is equipped with essential amenities aimed at creating a more effective and engaging learning environment for students and teachers.
DPWH Region 6 Officer-in-Charge Director Joel F. Limpengco, citing a report from District Engineer Mario G. Soriano, emphasized that the new structure is vital for fostering educational growth and student well-being.
“This building will ensure that students in the neighborhood will no longer face the difficulty of having classes under the shade of trees or in covered courts,” Limpengco said.
Soriano added that the new facility will eliminate the inconvenience experienced by teachers and students who previously held classes in makeshift venues.
“With this new facility, they will have a conducive, learning-friendly environment; hence, learning will be fun and productive,” Soriano said.
The new school building supports the need for enhanced learning spaces that accommodate modern teaching practices while ensuring safety and comfort.
DPWH stressed that providing school infrastructure remains a key priority, alongside roads, bridges, and flood control projects, to help communities achieve academic excellence.
