ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police on Tuesday filed double murder charges against the son of village chief Restituto “Resty” Oquendo who shot dead a couple last June 9, 2021 in a “talipapa” or roadside market at Brgy. Hipona Pontevedra, Capiz.
Major Christopher Candelario, Pontevedra police chief, said the case was filed against Restituto “Sultan” Oquendo Jr. before the Provincial Prosecutors Office.
Four witnesses executed their affidavits in support of the charges against Sultan. One of them is the daughter of the victims.
Sultan remains at large after allegedly shooting couple Noli Navarro, 59, and his wife Juara, 56.
In an autopsy conducted by Police Lt. Col. Joe Martin Fuentes of Capiz PNP Crime Laboratory, Noli suffered gunshot wounds in his chest and waist while Juara succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on the chest.
Four empty shells of .45 caliber ammunition were recovered from the crime scene.
