AMID reports of the unabated operations of illegal gambling, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 told its personnel to go hard against any form of illegal numbers game.
Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, said he directed all provincial and city police directors to stamp out illegal gambling.
This was one of the main concerns he discussed in a closed door meeting with his subordinate commanders on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019.
“But aside from strengthening their anti-illegal gambling campaign, I also reiterated our no take policy,” he said.
Pamuspusan said he would have no mercy for police officers who will be proven to have tolerated illegal gambling because they’re dealing and benefitting from bookies operators.
When he assumed post June 27, 2019 until Oct. 21, Pamuspusan said different police units conducted 339 anti-illegal gambling operations. These led to the arrest of 952 persons and the confiscation of P116,453.50 in bet money.
“We expect more accomplishments in the coming days,” he said.
