Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Nonito Donaire’s quest in snatching Nordine Oubaali’s WBC bantamweight belt will go as planned on May 16, 2020.
For now, both the Premier Boxing Champions and Top Rank have not intimated regarding the postponement of the fight because the scheduled cancelation of all boxing operations is from March to April only.
So temporarily, the Donaire-Oubaali fight will push through as scheduled and both fighters are currently in their respective training camps.
For “The Filipino Flash” Donaire, his loss to Japanese monster Naoya Inoue is a reason to stay hungrier in the sport.
He nearly took down the undefeated Inoue after doing a decent amount of damage during their fight, fracturing the Japanese’s nose and orbital bone.
However, Oubaali, the current WBC bantamweight champion, is also an unbeaten champion and already defended his belt twice.
Currently holding a 17-0 record with 12 knockouts, the French slugger proved he belonged to the division after trampling PH’s Arthur Villanueva and Naoya’s younger brother, Takuma.
Experience wise, Donaire has the upper hand against the young and emerging French, but can the Filipino Flash go back to his old form and emerge as the winner?
