150 establishment owners and their representatives attended the orientation on Republic Act No. 11058 (An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) issued by Secretary Silvestre H. Belo III through Department Order No. 198 series of 2018 which became effective on January 25, 2019.
The activity was conducted in partnership with the Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) through regional coordinator Stephene Barredo who provided updates on programs and services provided by their office.
The activity was conducted in two batches on March 6-7, 2019 at the Sanggunian Panglungsod Session Hall of the Roxas City Hall.
The salient points of the law and the IRR was discussed by Engr. Michael Gison, Labor Standards Focal Person of DOLE-6.
DOLE Capiz also took the opportunity to present the programs and services of the Department for information dissemination and to encourage the participants to avail them.
John Leo Marco Beldia, the President of Capiz PESO Association, discussed PESOs functions and various employment programs and services it implements.
Barredo elaborated the programs and services offered by ECC and the benefits the workers can avail from the commission based on previous decisions and jurisprudence.
The participants also committed to re-echo the information to their offices and co-workers to promote compliance.
