In an online meeting participated by the Games and Amusement Board (GAB), the Department of Health (DOH), and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases, plans regarding the return of contact sports were carefully tackled and possible scenarios were already drawn.
After GAB submitted its 59-page contact sports return proposal to the IATF, the meeting was then called for clarifications and recommendations on not only the one that GAB submitted but also the plans proposed by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and other sports bodies.
During the discussion, DOH recommended that IATF should limit the contact sports tournaments, games, and matches due to the absence of a vaccine for COVID-19.
Furthermore, both DOH and IATF have already gone through all the proposals and are now considering the next steps to take.
The persons who graced the meeting were DOH secretary and IATF chairperson Francisco Duque, IATF co-chairperson Secretary Karlo Nograles, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año, DICT Secretary Gringo Honasan, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Belo, GAB chairman Abraham Mitra, and GAB commissioners Mar Masanguid and Ed Trinidad.
