As Filipinos welcome the new year, the Department of Health (DOH) has introduced 12 healthy habits aimed at guiding the public toward a more active and health-conscious 2026.
The initiative assigns a specific wellness practice to each month to promote disease prevention, mental well-being and personal discipline.
The DOH’s monthly health recommendations are as follows.
- Enero – Ehersisyo: Engage in 30 minutes to one hour of physical activity daily.
- Pebrero – Pinggang Pinoy: Follow the Pinggang Pinoy guide to ensure balanced and nutritious meals.
- Marso – Magpabakuna: Get vaccinated against pneumonia, influenza, tetanus and cervical cancer.
- Abril – Annual checkup: Schedule routine health screenings regardless of current health status.
- Mayo – Meditate: Practice 15–20 minutes of meditation daily to help reduce stress.
- Hunyo – Helmet: Wear helmets to prevent serious injuries while traveling on the road.
- Hulyo – Hugas: Wash hands for at least 20 seconds to prevent infections.
- Agosto – Ayawan ang alak: Limit or avoid alcohol consumption, as even small amounts can affect the body.
- Setyembre – Safe sex: Promote and practice safe sex through proper education and open discussion.
- Oktubre – Otso oras na tulog: Get at least eight hours of sleep every night for overall health.
- Nobyembre – No tobacco, no vape: Avoid smoking and vaping to reduce health risks.
- Disyembre – Disiplina: Practice self-discipline in personal decisions and health choices.
The DOH also encouraged the public to adopt these habits as part of their daily lifestyle to promote long-term health and overall well-being throughout 2026.
