The only medical doctor in the Iloilo City council will seek reelection in the 2022 polls.
Dr. Candice Tupas filed her certificate of candidacy Thursday at the Commission on Elections in Iloilo City.
Dr. Tupas, wife of former No. 1 councilor Lex Tupas, has been a consistent top choice of respondents in scientific and random radio surveys since last year.
She is running under Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP) and Uswag Ilonggo party which both parties gave her their certificates of nomination and acceptance (CONA).
Dr. Tupas said she will continue to focus on health and wellness as it is her expertise being a Medical Doctor and Radiologist. Her advocacy has never been more fitting and important because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement on Facebook, Dr. Tupas said she aims to continue her achievements in the city council if given another three years to serve as councilor.
“It is an honor and a blessing to be given the chance to serve the Ilonggos with LEXcellence from the 7 districts of all 180 barangays of Iloilo City for almost 6 years already. Madamu na kita naubrahan. Madamu na kita nabuligan. Madamu pa bululigan kag madamu pa ulubrahon. Updan ninyo ako liwat para sa maayu nga panggobyerno, dekalidad nga lehislasyon kag mga programa, kag bilang inyo gaisahanon nga Doktora Konsehala upod kita sa pagpasigurado sang ikaayung lawas sang pamilyang Ilonggo,” she said.
