Novak Djokovic’s inspired start in the ongoing French Open will still be on full display after dominating Austrian foe Filip Misolic- 6.3, 6.4, 6.2- during their third-round encounter on June 1, 2025, at Roland Garros.
Fresh off back-to-back lopsided wins, Djokovic just continued his majestic start on the clay surface and is yet to drop a single set heading to the fourth round.
Djokovic picked up where he left off after schooling Corentin Moutet in the second round, maintaining his high-octane pace once his match against the Austrian kicked off.
Since appointing Dusan Vemic as his new head coach a week before the French Open, Djokovic showed a more aggressive approach in his off-the-bounce groundstrokes by hitting the ball early on the rise.
This adjustment displayed more game points clinched in the first three rounds, making him a more dangerous offensive player backstopped with his signature endurance and efficient court awareness.
There was just nothing that Misolic could do after Djokovic quickly snatched the momentum in the first with an early break point and cruised to a comfortable 3-1 lead.
Although Misolic was able to get his groove back in the service game, Djokovic closed the opener with his own serving avalanche to set the tone in the match.
Misolic adjusted in the following set and attempted to break Djokovic’s hitting rhythm by sending deep chops to the baseline but the winningest male tennis player read the tricks of the trade and countered with a serve-and-volley technique.
Djokovic’s brilliance extended until the third set as he punched the early exclamation point with a series of down-the-line forehand bombs that steered him to a 4-1 lead.
After another service hold by Misolic, Djokovic iced the game with two consecutive holds to officially stage a fourth-round showdown with Cameron Norrie today, at 5 PM.
