ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) junked the disqualification case against a candidate for the October 30, 2023 Barangay and Sanggunian Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Atty. Wil Arceño, Capiz provincial election supervisor, confirmed Monday that the Comelec central office dismissed the complaint due to technicality after the petitioner failed to provide a copy of the disqualification case to the subject candidate.
He refused to name the candidate and the position the bet was aiming for, including the place and the name of the complainant.
Arceño, however, clarified that it doesn’t mean that the disqualification case is over as it could still be revived.
“If ever that the candidate wins in the election, he could also be indicted for the same case 10 days after his proclamation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Comelec has issued show cause orders to 111 BSKE candidates in the province of Capiz for various alleged offenses.
Arceño said 96 of them were charged for pre-mature campaigning and 15 for some violations during the campaign period.
