BACOLOD City – A dispatcher was shot dead in broad daylight at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 here last Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Jefferson Diane, 29, of the said village.
Investigation indicated that the victim was taking a bath at a water pump around 10:40 a.m. when an unidentified person arrived and shot him.
The victim suffered head injuries and was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where he was declared dead, according to the police.
Recovered from the scene were three fired bullets and two slugs of an unknown firearm.
Captain Glenn Montaño, head of Police Station 2, said the victim was an alleged listed drug personality of Barangay 22 here, where he was previously residing.
He was also a respondent to an estafa complaint in July 2019, and carnapping in Barangay Vista Alegre, but the complainant did not pursue the filing of the case because the stolen motorcycle was recovered, according to Montaño.
The victim was also a violator of a city ordinance related to the prohibition of barker and parking boys last January 18 and March 4, 2023, and also a curfew violator during the pandemic, the station commander added.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the killing.
Montaño said the victim’s brother was arrested in a drug bust in 2014 but was stabbed dead inside the jail.
