BACOLOD CITY – The Department of Education Schools Division Office of Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental has refuted a social media report about an alleged armed threat to teachers in Barangay Buenavista.
In a statement released Wednesday, Schools Division Superintendent Gladys Amylaine Sales called the report fake news, saying no such incident was reported or validated after coordination with authorities and school personnel.
She said an online post alleged that teachers in Barangay Buenavista were being threatened by armed individuals.
“This misinformation only creates fear and disrupts the education of our learners,” Sales said.
She urged teachers to stay calm, focused on their duties, and continue fostering safe and peaceful school communities.
She also appealed to the public to be cautious and responsible in sharing information that could endanger public safety.
“Let us protect our schools, learners, teachers and the truth,” she added.
Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, chief of Himamaylan City Police Station, said they had not received any related information but would investigate the matter.
