DENR Employees Union gives cash aid to Typhoon Odette victims in Negros Occ

It’s the season of giving in a different way.

After a fierce typhoon that lashed at portions of Negros Occidental, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) quickly responded to the cry for help of its employees, in the spirit of Bayanihan.

The National Kalipunan ng mga Kawani ng Kagawaran ng Kalikasan (K4) extended financial assistance to Typhoon Odette survivors in Negros Occidental, specifically CENRO Kabankalan.

The aid was sent through DENR Western Visayas Employees Union (DENR-WVEU) headed by Emma P. Delima, the employees’ union president of DENR-6.

Delima and the union’s Board of Directors acknowledged the financial assistance from National K4, amounting to P93,830 that was deposited to the Savings Account of DENRWVEU.

On Dec 29, 2021, DENR-WVEU issued a check for P 100,000 to the Community of ENR Office of Kabankalan, represented be CENR Office Rosievel Dimatulac.

PENR Officer Edgardo M. Rostata of Negros Occidental cleared the move with conformity from Regional Executive Director Livino B. Duran.

“This amount of money cannot be accumulated by one hand in a day or two, it needs many helping hands. I thank the National K4 President Atty. Alessandra Pimentel and DENRWVEU President (Delima) for their initiatives to help our rank-and-file hit by Typhoon Odette,” Duran said during the turnover of the check.

Messages of gratitude from PENRO Rostata and CENRO Dimatulac were sent to National K4 and DENRWVEU during the hybrid 2021 Yearend Employees General Assembly that was led by DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu.

CENRO Dimatulac assured the higher officials they will send photos and other proof of liquidation to the DENRWVEU and to the K4 national for the money given to them. (DENR-6)
