ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Dengue Crisis Committee of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) is mulling to endorse the declaration of dengue outbreak in the province of Capiz due to the continued upsurge in cases.
Board Member Esteban Jose Contreras, SP chairman Committee on Health, said the declaration was based on a recent committee hearing.
Latest report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) revealed that 2,000 dengue cases with 14 deaths have been reported in the province from January to June 2019. The number is 771% higher compared to the same period last year.
According to Contreras, the province has reached the parameters to declare the outbreak based on the Disease Surveillance Data, Epidemiological, Environmental and Laboratory Examination.
The towns of Pontevedra and President Roxas, both in the First District of Capiz, have been placed under state of calamity because of dengue.
