Dengue cases in Iloilo City dropped by 83% this year, based on the data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU).
From January 1 to March 19, 2022, Iloilo City only logged 13 cases. This is 83 percent lower compared to the 72 cases recorded in the metro from January 1 to March 12, 2021.
Aside from this, the city also recorded zero deaths and zero barangays with clustering of cases.
Out of the 13 cases, six cases are female while the seven other cases are male.
As to the age group, the 13 cases range from 6 months to 55 years old. The age bracket with the most cases are 1 to 10 years old with six cases followed by aged 21 to 30 years old with three cases; and 31 to 40 years old with two cases. The other age groups each logged one case.
Meanwhile, the district of Jaro recorded the most number of cases at 5 followed by Mandurriao (3); City Proper (2); and La Paz, Lapuz, and Arevalo with one case each.
Last year, the city recorded 343 cases while in 2020 the city logged 268 cases. (DG)
