Delivery Rider Caught With 1 Kilo of Marijuana

A delivery rider was arrested for possessing a brick of dried marijuana leaves in Malay, Aklan.

Alias Ian, 26, a resident of Barangay Caticlan, Malay, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation at Sitio Airport, Barangay Caticlan.

Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Aklan provincial office, along with the PDEA Western Visayas Area Intelligence Unit, Malay Municipal Police Station, and Maritime Police Station-Boracay, arrested the suspect after he sold dried marijuana leaves for PHP23,000.

Authorities recovered a brick of suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing around 1,000 grams and 18 plastic packs of suspected dried marijuana leaves.

The seized illegal drugs had an estimated street value of PHP120,000.

PDEA and police operatives also confiscated a vacuum sealer, a mobile phone, a bundle of transparent plastic sachets, a weighing scale, and bubble wrap from the suspect.

Ian is now in police custody and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
