World no. 1 e-kata athlete James De Los Santos just ruled the Euro Grand Prix and the Katana Intercontinental League to collect two more gold medals in his professional career.
De Los Santos’ ultimate e-kata rival, Switzerland’s Matias Moreno Dormont, fell short once again of breaking through the Filipino’s karate style and settled for the silver medal again.
During the Euro Grand Prix, De Los Santos’ Unsu edged the Swiss’ Suparinpei, 25.6-24.32, and was flawless from the eliminations.
De Los Santos and Moreno Dormont would continue to meet in the Intercontinental grand finals where the Filipino again emerged victorious, 27.18-26.32.
The two gold medals in just one day made it De Los Santos’ 17th gold medal for the year and his 54th overall.
Moreover, the Filipino karateka is poised to join more international e-kata competitions and is looking to solidify his world no. 1 spot until the end of 2021.
De Los Santos revealed that he is no longer sure if he would end the month by joining more competitions or will take a break to save his energy for the rest of the competitions in the middle of the year.
