Darwa Pangalima Eskrima grand launching program a success

Panay-based Filipino martial arts organization Darwa Pangalima Eskrima successfully held its grand launching program on Sept. 19, 2026, at Cabatuan Central Elementary School in Iloilo.

DPE formally introduced its different chapters, held a workshop on its system of teaching Filipino martial arts, and recognized several outstanding members and instructors.

“I really appreciated the efforts of all the officers and members of DPE. Finally, we’re done with the launching of Darwa Pangalima Eskrima,” said Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, the organization’s president, in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.

The program started with a special “Anyo” exhibition by the 3rd Congressional District Meet gold medalists, followed by the introduction of the different DPE chapters.

DPE also recognized its most outstanding members, specifically the pioneering Palarong Pambansa batch led by Joevanie Mandado Alvariño, Jeremiah Jover, Jesus Valenzuela, Ryan Robles, and Mike Banguiran.

The crowning glory of the program came with the recognition of Master Nilo Sara and Master Ryan Robles as DPE’s most outstanding instructors, followed by Lucy Muralla as its most outstanding member.

According to Dr. Gabayoyo, DPE’s main aim was to formally introduce the organization to the public and promote awareness of its system dedicated to preserving and practicing the heritage of Panay eskrimadores.

Aside from that, DPE is also committed to providing insights and a proper structure for handling clubs and organizations seeking to practice traditional fighting techniques.

“The collective effort made the event successful and memorable. The launching made us all motivated to further promote Arnis and Filipino Martial Arts,” Dr. Gabayoyo added.
