ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A fire gutted a house made of mixed materials Thursday afternoon, March 5, in Barangay Quinayuya, Dao, Capiz, causing an estimated PHP 54,000 in damage.
Police identified the homeowner as Albert Banong, 46, a carpenter and resident of the area.
An investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection in Dao found that the fire started in a room where an electric fan had been plugged in, which may have been the source of the blaze that broke out at about 1:40 p.m.
Arson investigators are continuing to investigate the incident.
The Bureau of Fire Protection routinely investigates the origin and cause of fires to determine responsibility and help prevent similar incidents.
