The Department of Agriculture–Western Visayas officially launched the celebration of Filipino Food Month and High Value Crops Week on Wednesday, April 9, at Robinsons Place Iloilo.
The event, which runs until April 11, features food exhibits, cooking demonstrations, and cultural presentations aimed at promoting local agricultural products and raising awareness of the country’s culinary heritage.
With the theme “Sarap ng Pagkaing Pilipino: Yaman ng Ating Kasaysayan, Kultura, at Pagkatao” (The Deliciousness of Filipino Food: Treasures of Our History, Culture, and Identity), this year’s celebration underscores the cultural significance of Filipino cuisine.

Through the event, the Department of Agriculture–Western Visayas aims to encourage support for local farmers and promote greater appreciation for the nation’s food culture.
Filipino Food Month, also known as Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino, is celebrated every April under Presidential Proclamation No. 469, s. 2018.
It seeks to preserve and promote Filipino cuisine as an essential part of the country’s cultural identity.
