Cycle 2 of the Lopez Museum and Library Collection art exhibition opens at UP Visayas

The University of the Philippines Visayas Museum of Art and Cultural Heritage (UPV MACH), in collaboration with the Lopez Museum and Library Collection, opened the art exhibition “Sown by the Traveler: Women and Migrants in Philippine Art – Ginsab-og sang Pangayaw: Kababayenhan kag mga Migrante sa Pilipinhon nga Taliambong” on January 23 at the Pagwa Performing Arts Hall, MACH, University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City campus
This exhibition marks the culmination of Cycle 2 of the UPV MACH–Lopez Museum and Library Collaboration Project. The first exhibition, “The Patrimony of All – Ang Panublion sang Tanan,” which featured works by Juan Luna, Félix Resurrección Hidalgo, Fernando Amorsolo, and Juan Arellano, was highly successful.
A total of 14 paintings by Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Nena Saguil, Alfonso Ossorio, Juvenal Sanso, Macario Vitalis, and Fernando Zobel are included in this art exhibition, curated by Dr. Patrick Flores.
The initiative was also made possible through the efforts of former Senate President Franklin Drilon, Senator Loren Legarda, the Iloilo City Government, and the Eugenio Lopez Foundation, Inc.
UP President Angelo Jimenez, and Dr. Patrick Flores delivered video messages during the program. On behalf of Sen. Loren Legarda, Assoc. Prof. Martin G. Genodepa, Director of the Office of Initiatives in Culture and Arts read her message of support during the opening of the exhibit.
Former Senate President Franklin Drilon, Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas, Director Mercedes Lopez Vargas of Lopez Museum and Library, and UPV Chancellor Clement C. Camposano were also present during the opening to deliver their messages.
