BACOLOD City The crime rate in Bacolod City went down by 17.12 percent in 2018, based on records released by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Jan 4, 2019.
Senior Supt. Francisco Ebreo, BCPO director, said the number of index crimes such as murder, homicide, robbery, physical injury, theft, and rape decreased by 40.19 percent, from 1,132 cases in 2017 to 677 in 2018.
Non-index crimes, or violation of special laws like the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, decreased by 5.63 percent from 2,274 in 2017 to 2,146 last year.
Ebreo said the decline in crimes is due to the continuing operations they conduct in the city.
The number of police-initiated operations in 2018 has also increased by 62.9 percent compared to 2017, Ebreo added.
