Creamline Seek to Cement Legacy, Petro Gazz Aim To Break Through

The Premier Volleyball League Finals features familiar foes once again as the Creamline Cool Smashers take on the Petro Gazz Angels — two squads with contrasting legacies but the same burning goal: the championship.

One team enters with a legacy to defend, the other with a hunger to finally break through.

The series opens tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Araneta Coliseum, and fans can expect fireworks from the first serve.

Creamline’s veteran core — Bernadeth Pons, Tots Carlos, Alyssa Valdez, Jema Galanza, Bea de Leon, Pangs Panaga and Kyle Negrito — is built for the big stage.

Battle-tested and composed, this group has mastered the art of peaking when it matters most.

For the Cool Smashers, the Finals feel like just another day at work — calm, prepared and locked in.

After an opening semifinal loss to Petro Gazz, Creamline stormed back with sweeps over Akari and Choco Mucho, proving its adaptability and resilience.

“We won’t go down easily,” said coach Sherwin Meneses. “We’re just doing our job. We want to defend the crown.”

While Creamline leans on its proven pedigree, Petro Gazz enters the Finals with renewed fire and belief.

Though their trophy case is smaller, the Angels are fueled by grit, growth and meaningful wins.

With two Reinforced Conference titles and multiple podium finishes, Petro Gazz has built a résumé worthy of respect.

Their semifinal victory over Creamline showed they’re no longer just chasing greatness — they’re competing for it.

Led by scoring machine Brooke Van Sickle and backed by Myla Pablo, MJ Phillips and Jonah Sabete, the Angels have the offensive weapons to match the champs.

Their depth is just as potent, with veterans Aiza Pontillas, Remy Palma, Joy Dacoron and Nicole Tiamzon ready to contribute.

For head coach Koji Tsuzurabara, this Finals isn’t just about X’s and O’s — it’s about desire.

He’s challenged his players to give 200 percent, knowing it will take every ounce to topple the reigning queens.

Meneses echoed the sentiment.

“Of course, we’re Creamline — we won’t go down without a fight,” he said. “Our number one goal is to defend the crown.”
