The Creamline Cool Smashers showed no signs of any holiday hungover after blanking the Capital1 Solar Spikers in their return to action, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18, in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on January 21, 2025, at the Philsports Arena.
With the victory, the Cool Smashers remained the only undefeated team in the conference, improving their impressive PVL win-loss record to five wins without a loss.
Despite not setting foot inside the PVL hardwood for over a month, Creamline performed without rust and put on a decisive sweeping win bolstered by the return of their superstar outside hitter, Tots Carlos.
After missing the previous Reinforced Conference due to a knee injury, the former league Most Valuable Player (MVP) returned with a bang and delivered 10 points built from eight successful attacks.
Creamline immediately went to their star, and fed her in her most comfortable attacking position, and feasted on her cross-court conversions.
Although the coaching staff still limited her playing minutes to ensure her safety, Carlos still went all out and treated the Creamline supporters with her signature power hits from the backline.
“Happy kami kasi nagiging mas healthy yung team namin, lalo na mahaba yung conference, talagang kailangan tulong tulong talaga sa paglalaro. Happy ako kasi nakabalik na sila, yun yung number one,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses.
Jema Galanza continued her consistent offensive display for the Cool Smashers and top-scored the team with 12 markers derived from 10 successful attacks alongside 10 excellent digs.
Kyle Negrito, Creamline’s veteran setter, ran the team’s offensive schemes to perfection after dishing out 14 excellent sets during the three-set affair.
The Cool Smashers will challenge the NXLED Chameleons on January 28, 2025, to keep their untainted record alive, while Capital1 will look to bounce back against the ZUS Thunderbelles on January 25, 2025.
