The Creamline Cool Smashers maintained its unblemished record in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference after blanking the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-17, 25-17, 25-21, on February 6, 2025, at the Philsports Arena.
Creamline flexed its dominance once again inside the hardwood and scored its fourth sweeping win in the All-Filipino Conference to improve to an undefeated 8-0 record.
After a thrilling five-set victory over the Cignal HD Spikers, the Cool Smashers picked up where they left off, this time avoiding a slow start that steered them to a one-sided opening set win.
Unlike their past few matches where they gave up several sets due to their unforced errors, Creamline this time didn’t fumble in the clutch and executed their game plan to perfection.
Bea De Leon made the difference against the Crossovers as the energetic middle blocker provided the intangibles and made the most out of her given playing time.
The former Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) standout led the Cool Smashers with 13 points built from 11 successful attacks alongside three service aces and two blocks.
De Leon hosted a two-way clinic at the start of the second set, setting the tone for Creamline with a couple of kill blocks while also anchoring their defense.
Aside from those, the towering middle blocker also supplied the points that Chery Tiggo never saw coming, hammering back-to-back cross-court hits that ballooned Creamline’s lead to close the second set on a high note.
“Personally, gusto ko lang talaga mag-aim for consistency so I wanted to come to this game with a really good mindset and really focused, syempre with the help of my teammates,” De Leon said.
Backstopping De Leon in Creamline’s eighth consecutive win was Jema Galanza who tallied nine points derived from seven successful attacks with five excellent receptions.
On the other hand, the Crossovers received a vintage outing from star outside hitter Ara Galang who delivered 14 markers but Creamline’s firepower and defensive coverage proved to be too much in the end.
