The CPU Golden Lions started their 2019 ILOPRISAA tertiary men’s basketball campaign with a dominating win against the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, 65-44.
The Golden Lions’ aggressiveness scored them easy baskets underneath, courtesy of a pumped-up Miguel Sasuman who lost his defender numerous times for easy drives to the basket.
The John B. squad was within striking distance until the second quarter, 26-20, when they started to connect with their three-point shots.
However, CPU’s defense started to pick up and gave the maritime students a hard time in converting a basket that started the Golden Lion onslaught.
The post-play of Jesse Sullano put the big men of John B. in early foul trouble, with Sak Galvez also penetrating at will against the John B. interior.
The game went out of hand in the final canto as CPU began to fully take control of the game and the lead.
The second game featured a rematch of the recently concluded ISAA championship between University of San Agustin and Western Institute of Technology.
WIT got back at USA, beating them by 10 points, 88-78.
